Reasons why you'd like to live in or visit Bristol

An impromptu visit to Bristol was planned to visit the city and get to know more about it, in an attempt to understand what we want and what kind of place we'd like to live in. Little did we know that we'll end up on Bristol Pride week-end. Our week-end and research over there brought to our attentions to why the city could be a potential location to settle down in for any young couple

Reason 1: It's Just Beautiful

The city is full of beauty, with the modern and historical architecture side by side. Old warehouses and factories have been turned into markets, restaurants, theatres rather than left to rot. We have found run down places near the city centre but they weren't that big.

People seem to take pride in the appearance of their streets. We found some old shoes in which were planted flowers. An idea that we'll take on for sure

It even has its own Monopoly board. You should try it out. Just like the normal monopoly game, it contains the street that's has pricier houses and the one that less. How accurate it is, it will be up to you to decide.

Reason 2: Food is great

Food and cuisine taste is a personal choice of course. What makes a place great for it's food is the availability of choices that could please many and a celebration of ingredients meant to capture one's attention. We came across a food market in one of the square near the Cathedral on the Saturday of our visit. The smell when walking through were enough to get you hungry.

On Sunday we went to Tobacco Factory Market where we had an Indian inspired dish served by a very friendly and very English couple. Not something we see everyday but pleasant nevertheless

Reason 3: A sense of community and freedom of expression

Bristol apparently has loads of things going on. There are fairs, festivals and is also home to the yearly Bristol Pride, which happened to be when we were there. The city is small enough for people not to feel lost among the crowd, like you may feel in larger cities of millions of inhabitants.

These are the reasons we found so far. I imagine if we visit it again or even decide to move there, we may have more reasons to add to the list to why Bristol could be interesting to live in. Let me know what you think of Bristol.

Visiting Bristol

If you are looking to visit the town, I would recommend familiarising yourself with what the city is about, the attractions it has and where to eat depending on your eating preferences.

Have a look at the following books that may interest you.

They both cover Bristol and the regions worth visiting around.
