What Do I have currently - the Nikon D300s

I have had my Nikon D300s since Jan 2010 and I am very happy and satisfied with it. It changed my game from when having my Nikon D50. The D300s allowed me to capture images with the settings I want much more often thanks to the variety of buttons and dials.

My lenses:
Nikkor 18-105mm f3.5-5.6
Nikkor 50mm f1.4
Sigma 70-300mm f2.8

My Accessories
A speedlight flash
4 Strobes, 3 softboxes etc

Should I buy one?

I do need to buy another camera as the D300s is getting old to compete with the higher quality photos out there. But I will still keep using it as a second hand body because having two on a shoot as many of you know, is great. Imagine having to switch lens constantly at a wedding or missing those shots because you were using the "other" lens at that moment?

Having seen reviews and checked out the quality of the photos taken by the D500, I think it is a big contender for my next camera body. Other options will be to look at an FX body that's maybe older or second hand. So far however, after seeing reviews by snapchick and others, I think the D500 will have to be bought in a couple of months or so.

Should you buy one?

Do you want an expensive toy? - then yes, go ahead as not getting one will be a regret until finally you get one. Might as well get it now. :)

Do you need a camera to get really nice family or personal photos? Well, it has so many nice features like 10fps and fast focus and shutter release that are great advantages when you are on shoots. Most of them are for photographers who are skilled enough and who will improve their game with those features in mostly a professional environment. Do you use your camera enough in a professional environment to warrant the price? that's the question you'll have to answer yourself.

Are you a professional photographer? Well, then I will struggle to give you an advice because you will already be having one of a couple of bodies already. If you are shooting with Nikon DX and would like to stay with one, then by all means. If you were thinking about going FX, then maybe you still need to have a play with the Nikon d500 as the quality is amazing.

Have a great time
