People of Philippines

Recently I have had the chance of visiting the Philippines with two of my friends, and it was an absolutely great experience. I decided to capture as much as I can the country as opposed to just beautiful sceneries. As such, I wanted to know more about the people and get to know them, leaving me less time to actually take photos. But I got to learn more and understand the brilliant people of the island

I was very amazed to how different people are from different parts of Philippines. On the same island for example, in Cebu City and Oslob, people were so different. The city is as expected very buzzing with people competing with each other and very aware of the revenue potential of tourists. Nothing to be scared of, but only to be aware of.

We went to Lapu Lapu during our visit to Cebu City and visited the monument of the great Hero of the country - Lapu Lapu himself. The fish market was pretty interesting over there where I met a fish seller who invited us in.

Upon choosing our fish and other seafood, the fish monger called the kitchen staff, who guided us in and started preparing our food. My friend of course had to get into the kitchen, where her boyfriend and I followed.

We started eating and around us were some interesting people and it wouldn't be fair then if the camera had to stay in the bag.

Serenades - In Cebu city, every single meal you have, apart from breakfast, you are bound to have some musicians coming to you for a serenade. It was nice.

After lunch, we went for a stroll around the museum and here are some shots:

Life on the coast is amazing with loads of people in the fishing industry and tourism.

Driving down to Oslob from Cebu

Oslob:

The magnificent villages in the Oslob area offered us a great experience. We had the chance to be in a very safe place with kind, happy and helpful people. It was the first time in Philippines where we felt completely at ease and I was around at night with my camera and had no concerns whatsoever.

Negros island - Dumagette and Bais

We visited negros island where Sheila's parents live and had a brilliant time with them. Her mother and brother cooked for us on several occasions and believe me, these guys know how to cook seafood.

We visited Sheila's dad's workplace's land and the village she grew up in.

And yes, I did go to cock-fighting as a curious person. I don't condone the brutality involved but I had to go, find out and I knew I'd get good photos over there. So I went.
